Custom software development

Business software written around the way your team works.

Kodem is a custom software development company in Bursa, Türkiye that builds business systems from scratch for companies whose process no packaged product fits. We map your workflow first, put the scope and price in writing, and deliver in stages you can see and approve before the next one starts.

  • Written scope and itemised quote
  • Milestones agreed in the contract
  • English and Arabic interfaces

What a project includes

When custom makes sense

Packaged software works until your process does not fit it.

Not every company needs custom software. If a ready-made product covers your work, use it. The case for a custom system appears when part of the business still runs on spreadsheets and chat messages, when the same figures are typed into two places, or when every new user means another licence fee.

At that point there are three options: keep bending the packaged tool, move to a large ERP suite with its long implementation, or build a system that contains only the modules you need, in the order your team uses them. In the discovery call we work through that choice with you, and we say so when custom software is not the right answer.

In shortCustom software is a system written for one company's workflow, owned in use by that company's team, and maintained by the people who built it.
  • Spreadsheets and messages hold part of the process
  • Data is re-keyed between two or more systems
  • Month-end reports are stitched together by hand
  • Requests from dealers or customers get lost in chat

How a project runs

Two rules: scope in writing, working software at every stage.

All of it can run remotely. Türkiye is on UTC+3, the same time as Riyadh, Kuwait City and Doha, so calls happen in your working day.

  1. Discovery and requirementsWe study your process, current tools and bottlenecks by video. The result is a written scope with modules, user roles and priorities.
  2. Architecture and quoteData model, integration points and permissions are decided, then priced line by line. Requests outside the approved scope are agreed in writing before work starts.
  3. Staged buildThe contract splits delivery into milestones. Each one is shown working on a private preview address, and your feedback goes into the next stage.
  4. Testing, migration and launchAutomated tests, a security review, and data moved from spreadsheets or the old system. Go-live follows a plan rehearsed in advance.

Three routes compared

The question is not which is better, but which fits your scale.

We go through this with clients before anything is quoted.

Custom software usually costs more at the start than a subscription. Whether it pays off depends on your process and team size, which is what the discovery call is for.

Is this for you?

Where custom software is and is not the right call.

A good fit if

  • Your process is specific enough that packaged tools need constant workarounds
  • Several people re-enter the same data in different places every day
  • You need English and Arabic screens, with right-to-left layout for Arabic users
  • You want one team to build the system and keep it running

Not the right fit if

  • A ready-made product already covers your work well
  • You need a fixed price before the scope has been defined
  • You plan to take the source code in-house or to another supplier
  • Your rules require the system to be hosted in your own country or on your own servers

We would rather tell you this on the first call than after a contract is signed.

Questions

Questions about custom software

Who owns the source code and the data?

Kodem develops your software, hosts it on servers in Türkiye and keeps it up to date. The source code stays with Kodem. Your domain is registered in your name, and your content and data are always yours. If you decide to end the service, your content and data are handed over free of charge in standard formats (CSV/JSON and media files).

How much does custom software cost?

There is no list price, because two systems are rarely the same size. After discovery you receive a written scope and an itemised quote in USD. Once you approve it, the price is fixed; anything new is quoted and approved in writing first. For comparison, our website plans start at $1,000, excluding applicable taxes.

How long does it take?

We do not give a date before the scope is clear. After discovery, the schedule is split into milestones and written into the contract, and you see working software at each one rather than only at the end.

Can our team use the system every day?

Yes. Business software is your team's working tool, so your staff log in with roles and permissions that match their jobs. Changes to how the software itself works are sent to us by email or WhatsApp, and our team builds and releases them.

What happens after launch?

We host the system, apply security updates, run backups and fix faults. The scope of support and our response times are written into the contract. New modules or reports are quoted separately when you need them.

Can it connect to our accounting software or ERP?

Usually, yes, through the other system's API or a service layer we build. E-invoicing, shipping carriers, SMS, email and WhatsApp are common connections. Integration with local payment providers is assessed during scoping.

We are in the Gulf. How does remote delivery work?

Discovery and reviews happen on video calls, decisions are confirmed by email, and every milestone is shared on a private preview link. We share your time zone, and interfaces can be built in English and Arabic, with the Arabic version laid out right to left.

Describe your process. We will scope it in writing.

A free discovery call by video, then a written scope and an itemised quote in USD. If custom software is not what you need, we will tell you.
