06 Data protection and privacy
Our approach to personal data protection and confidentiality
This page summarises how the firm handles personal data. In the legal profession, confidentiality comes from professional rules before it comes from legislation; the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) is added on top of that duty.
01 Data controller
For the information provided on this site, the data controller is Erkoç & Sayın Law Office. The firm acts within the duty of confidentiality under the Attorneyship Law and Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data.
02 Which data is processed, and for what purpose?
No form is filled in on the site; contact is made by WhatsApp and email. The name, contact details and summary of the subject you share through these channels are processed only for the following purposes:
- Replying to the appointment request and scheduling the meeting
- Carrying out a conflict-of-interest check before the meeting
- If a legal services agreement is signed, handling the file and meeting legal obligations
If no meeting takes place or no agreement is made, the information shared is deleted within a reasonable time; only the minimum record needed for conflict-of-interest checks is kept.
03 Transfers
Personal data is shared with courts, mediators, notaries and public authorities to the extent the file requires. Beyond that, nothing is transferred to third parties, and no data is used for advertising or marketing.
04 Retention period
File documents are kept for the periods set out in the Attorneyship Law and related legislation and are destroyed at the end of that time. Requests that do not lead to a meeting are deleted soon after.
05 Your rights
Under Article 11 of the KVKK you have the right to learn whether your personal data is being processed, to request information, to ask for correction or deletion, and to object to processing. You can send your requests by email; they are answered within the period set by the legislation.
06 Website and cookies
This site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies and embeds no external content. The WhatsApp and email links take you to your own app; the data processing rules of those apps belong to their providers.
07 Professional secrecy
Information disclosed to an attorney is covered by the duty of confidentiality even if the meeting does not lead to an agreement. This duty has no time limit and applies to everyone who works at the firm.
