Examination and imaging
A clinical examination is carried out, and a panoramic X-ray (and, if needed, a 3D scan) is taken to assess the jawbone. Your general health history and medication are recorded.
Planning and information
The position, number and type of implants and the crown or bridge are planned on the images. Options, stages, possible risks and an indicative timeline are explained, and written consent is obtained.
Preparatory procedures (if needed)
If bone volume is limited, preparatory procedures such as bone grafting or a sinus lift may be planned. These are done in a separate session and add to the healing time.
Placing the implant
The implant is placed in the jawbone under local anaesthesia. Aftercare instructions and any medication are given in writing.
Healing period
The time needed for the implant to bond with the bone varies by person and location; your dentist reviews progress at check-up visits. A temporary prosthesis can be used during this period if needed.
Crown or bridge and fitting
Impressions are taken, the crown or bridge is tried in and then fitted. Bite and chewing are checked and care advice is shared.
Follow-up and maintenance
Check-ups and professional cleaning are carried out at set intervals. The health of the tissue around the implant is maintained with regular oral care.
